Which Day Is The Sabbath?
The Sabbath is first mentioned in the Book of Genesis.
Genesis 2:2-3__
2 And on the Seventh Day Yahweh
ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the
Seventh Day from all His work which He had done.
3 Then Yahweh blessed
the Seventh Day and set it apart to be holy, because in it He rested
from all the work which Yahweh had created and made.
The
Holy
Scriptures say the Seventh Day is the day when Yahweh rested. He
therefore blessed this day.
The definition of the word Saturday
in Webster's Student Dictionary, page 727, is: the
seventh and last day of the week.
The definition of the word Sunday
in Webster's Student Dictionary, page 823 is: the
first day of the week.
Exodus
31:15—
For six days work shall be done,
but the Seventh Day is the Sabbath of rest, holy to Yahweh.
Whoever does any work on the Sabbath Day, he shall surely be put to
death.
The seventh day is still the Sabbath day. Many examples of men breaking the Sabbath are recorded in the Bible. Breaking Yahweh's Sabbath cut us off from Him.
Numbers
15:32-35—
32 While the children of Israyl
were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on
the Sabbath Day.
33 And those who found him
gathering sticks brought him to Mosheh and Aaron, and to all the
congregation.
34 They kept him in custody
because it was not clear what should be done to him.
35 Then Yahweh said to Mosheh:
The man must surely be put to death; all the
congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.
This man deliberately disobeyed this Law and Yahweh plainly tells us that the prophesied judgment for sin is death.
Yechetzqyah
18:4—
Behold, all souls are Mine. Just
as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is Mine; the
soul that sins, it will die.
Romans
6:23—
For the wages of sin is death;
but the gift of Yahweh is eternal life through Yahshua Messiah, our
Savior.
In contrast, Yahweh promises special blessings on those who hallow and keep the Sabbath day.
Isayah
58:13-14—
13 If you turn away
your foot from breaking the Sabbath: from
doing your pleasure; your own business, your
own pleasure, on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a
delight; the holy day of Yahweh honorable, and
will honor Him by not doing your own ways, nor
finding your own pleasure, nor engaging in idle conversation:
14 Then you will find your joy in
Yahweh; and I will cause you to ride on the high places of
the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Yaaqob your father__for
the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it.
